Early morning wake up call

The day I had left for my Rajasthan trip (on 21st December, 2010), they had disappeared.

My maid informed me upon my return on 27th, that they have been perpetually missing. They had shifted along with their “bag n baggages” (read: eggs, twigs and their highly annoying ghoonrh- ghoonrh sound that they make through out the day!)

No sooner I had stepped inside my home, the noisy one was back hopping around the veranda. It didn’t make any sound till it was sure I was back. In the entire flock of maybe over 200 odd pigeons, this is the only one that is a chatter- box.

I am back to my daily routine. It’s been a pleasant (i.e., highly annoying) 10 days that they have been waking me up in the morning- again! DAMN..

The pigeon pair is back.

No matter how many objects I throw on the window to shoo them away, they come back with the precision of the snooze function of an alarm clock. The two of those are now sat “peacefully” in the computer room veranda. They have declared those nests I had woven for them theirs. That’s where they had laid their 1st egg!

Parrots squawking at one side and these winged fairies roaming around at the other.. Perhaps they also feel at home with me around.. 🙂

The pigeon images are current dated.

Check out how close is my bed to the window.

I had barely finished posting this, when they had started to coochie- coo too! The noisy one which is supposedly the male, sits low while the other one keeps pecking him all over his head. Infact a few of his head feathers are always stood up because of pecks.. lolss. After cats, it’s them those always keep cuddling or cleaning! This pair, either making sound or pecking at one other’s head. Oh they take turns to peck each other.

  5. Hi, dear Olivia! I love pidgeons. These are wonderful pics. Can see why you might be disgruntled though. Loved that you compared their persistance to the snooze button on the alarm. Clever and charming.

Wishing you every good thing, Olivia.

There must be something that’s very appealing about you and your surroundings to have these lovely birds…I loved reading this!

I really love birds so I would feel so happy to have a nesting pair of most anything on one of my porches. But not the noise! Especially if it woke me up too soon. I am with you on that point.

Maybe the owl idea will work for you–it’s worth a try. Love your photos, Olivia and hearing about your life.

    Love you,
    Gayle xoxo

I am even fine with their pecking at the window screen a bit and hopping over the a/c unit.. but that noise that they make is just unbearable.. It seems they do it on purpose. Like the precision of a cellphone “ascending” ring tone, that one ups its volume! No sooner I leave the bed, they become wuite. It’s been 4 months since I have been watching this.. grrrrr!! They are doomed! My owl is just about to perch on the window to set them right..

BTW, I love owls too. There are a few small ones here. I spotted one last winter about the same time.. I hear them almost every day.. Anyday I own a house (read a big plot area), I am going to learn making nests so could house a few there in open- no caging them business..

      Till then..
      Love you loads xoxox

These pigeons seem more like love birds the way you describe them 😀 And I guess they see you are their mom! lol It seems a shame to move them on when they are so attached to your home and you, but if they’re annoying you, I agree with 2zpoint – get a realistic owl…that should send them packin. By the way, you have a lovely home 😀

    Have a GREAT day xx

I am going to talk to this Pigeon Pair tonight (in my mind- telepathy!!) If they understand that they are not to start their alarm/snooze from 7am onwards- it’s fine. I mean I love to be on my own in the mornings. I hate being woken up!! For crying out loud, it’s winters, I can afford to pretend I am asleep till long. So, after bearing them for over 4 months, I’ll talk to them for one last time. C’mon- I have a nest- oh, make that two; for them in the other veranda. They could really use that time hopping from pots to pots in the Computer room veranda!!
There- I have a small sandal wood Owl. I am going to sit that at the window. I don’t mind removing it everyday after I wake up, I like the pigeon pair.. 😀
I have 6 verandas in my house. The one room that I don’t use, the birds don’t come there often. They do when they notice me around inside..!!! Rest 5 of them are like mini sanctuaries!
If only they realize that they are not to poke a sleeping beast.. 🙂
You Pigeon Pair- see, I am conspiring against the two of you with the whole world- now stop making that noise till I wake up- or else..!!

I think you have a GREAT case for asking them to move along to one of your other verandas then 😉 Your reply really made me laugh!! Thank you!!

Still, it’s not everybody who can speak to the animals – LOLS xx

Let me complete the sentence for you.. “You have to be one to do so…” LOLsss
I have a feeling they do it on purpose! Why else they would do that unless I leave the bed..? grrrrrrrrr..

Place a realistic Owl nearby most birds will keep their distance. If that doesn’t work you can try predator urine in extreme cases…that usually keeps everything away!lol! Don’t know if these will help you but we have varmints and it does help with them.

Yup.. like mega thanks for suggesting that.
I have had enough listening to their “noise” since past over 4 months now.. They are going to have some fun tomorrow morning if they don’t behave..

Pigeon Pair, you are doomed.. 😀 lols
